Impeccable Freshness

On the deck processing. Our anchovies are caught in the coast of South Korea, they are quickly cooked on deck to seal in the qualities of the fish and to maintain its freshness. As we all know, the humidity in korea is generally much drier in Singapore, therefore this allows utmost freshness being sealed in.

Origin: 완도 Wan-do

Kelp is high in antioxidants, including carotenoids and flavonoids, which help fight against disease-causing free radicals. Antioxidant minerals, such as manganese and zinc, help combat oxidative stress and may help protect cardiovascular health and prevent cancer.

Origin: 남해안 (Namhae) South Coast

The anchovy, being an oily fish, is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, well known for its ability to lower levels of triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood. It is also an excellent source of protein, with a fish of average size providing around 9g of protein and only 55 calories.

Origin: 강원도 Gangwon-do

Dried pollock is a rich source of proteins and amino acids and is known to have detoxifying and soothing effects. This explains why bukeoguk is very popular as a hang-over remedy in Korea. The unique flavor of the dried fish makes the soup very flavorful but not fishy.

Shrimp may have a variety of health benefits. It is high in several vitamins and minerals, and is a rich source of protein. Eating shrimp may also promote heart and brain health due to its content of omega-3 fatty acids and the antioxidant astaxanthin ( 6 , 11 , 12 , 13 ).

Fuss Free Healthy Cooking

Dashi packet is a great alternative in making dashi (Japanese soup stock). It is really convenient and produces much more flavorful soup stock than one made with dashi powder.

Add 600ml Water (2.5 cups) to 1 Dashi Pack

Boil for 5-10 mins & remove pack

For deeper flavour, you may wish to keep the Dashi packets simmered for 5-10 mins with your soup ingredients. Discard before serving.

Add your preferred ingredients

Add 1/8 Tsp Sea Salt or Soy Sauce (to taste)

Storage: Dashi packets are to be stored at an ideal temp. of 2-7 °C. Once opened, Dashi packs can be stored in the chiller for up to 3 months.

Do we add salt and seasoning to our Dashi Packs?

No, we do not add any salt or seasoning to our 100% Natural Dashi Packets. Ingredients comes as a whole and are not further processed. Therefore, you would need to add a tinge of salt (to your preference) when cooking with the Dashi Packets.

Note: Common commercial dashi stock that comes in powdered form are mostly processed and seasoned. Soup stock cubes/broth packs may contain MSG. 

Are Dashi Packs safe for children?

Absolutely!
Please be advised to check the contents of each Dashi Pack for any allergies (i.e. seafood allergy, shellfish allergy, etc.) 

Are Dashi Packs Healthy? 

Of course!
Dashi is an incredibly simple broth that is fat-free, nutritious and rich in minerals. With kelp as the base ingredient, it is high in calcium, iodine, iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins B,C,D and E. It is also unusually rich in glutamic acid, an amino-acid essential in brain and muscle functions.

How much soup can i make with 1 Dashi Pack?

We recommend 600ml for optimal flavour.
Tip: For a sweeter soup, you can add ingredients like onions & white radish, then season with salt/soy sauce to your preference. Try mixing 2 different Dashi Packs and then sweenten it further for 2-3 servings. (i.e. Bold-Haemul, Light-Shiitake)

Can I use this as a marinate?

No, they are different in nature. Dashi Packs are used to cook a light and flavourful soup broth while marinates usually have stronger flavours made with seasonings such as soy sauce, salt, spices, fish sauce, etc.

Storage

How do I store Dashi Packs (before/after opening pack)?

Upon receiving your Dashi Packs, we strongly recommend you to keep it in the chiller to prolong its shelf-life. It can typically last several months in the chiller in our sealed zip pouch.

Dashi Packs are to be stored at an ideal temp. of 2-7 °C. Once opened, Dashi Packs can be stored in the chiller for up to 3 months.

Note: Please ensure the packets do not come into contact with water to maintain freshness. Always keep the zip pouch sealed.

How do I store Dashi soup stock

Dashi soup stock can be stored in 2 ways:
1 - Pour it in a jug/container and keep it in the chiller. It can last up to 5 days.
2 - Pour it into ice cub trays and keep it in the freezer. It can last up to a month.

Tip: Cook a huge batch of soup stock concentrate at one go and freeze it in cubes for easy usage! (i.e. vege stir fry, soup stock base)
